A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING NURSE MAVIS BARLOW FOR 30 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE LEGISLATURE.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Mavis Barlow has served as the resident nurse for the Mississippi Legislature since the 1969 Regular Session; and

WHEREAS, for 30 years, Nurse Barlow has labored with understanding and diligence, and always with a radiant smile, in her ministration to the health and comfort of the membership and staff of the House and Senate; and

WHEREAS, 1999 begins the 29th term that the Mississippi Medical Association has provided easily attainable medical care to the membership and staff of the Legislature by keeping on duty a nurse and a "Doctor of the Day" for emergency medical needs; and

WHEREAS, the presence of such capable and dedicated medical personnel as Mavis Barlow has always been a great comfort and reassurance to the members and staff of the Legislature, and often to visitors to the Capitol; and

WHEREAS, the presence of Nurse Barlow will be missed, and the dedicated and exemplary accomplishment of her duties deserves special recognition; and

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the unselfish contribution of time and services by Nurse Barlow and the other personnel of the Mississippi Medical Association be acknowledged and commended:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we extend our sincerest appreciation to Mrs. Mavis Barlow, Resident Nurse of the Legislature for the past 30 years, for her contribution and dedication to the health, comfort and welfare of all those who sought her aid, and wish her success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Nurse Mavis Barlow, and furnished to the Mississippi Medical Association and to the Capitol Press Corps.
